Mr Spink treated me for spinal stenosis and lumbar nerve compression. I had decompression surgery at L2/L3 and decompression and fusion at L4/L5. After a fairly major 3 hour operation I was out of bed within 12 hours and home in 18 hours. Mr Spink’s care of me was exceptional, in both attention and explanation including follow up. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Jeremy Cook

I have recently had Surgery under Mr Spink . It was clear upon our first meeting that I was in excellent hands. Having experienced and been disappointed by other Neuro specialists I can say that I hold Mr Spink in high regard. His patient and calm manner, with his extensive clinically knowledge helped me to realise that the treatment was indeed the best option for my qualify of life going forward. The risks were very much explained and I was given time to consider all of the information before making any decision. My Wife had many questions, of which Mr Spink answered comprehensively. I felt reassured by Mr Spinks clinical CV and would highly recommend Mr Spink.

I have nothing but praise for Mr George Spink and his team at the Spire hospital in Hull. From my first meeting with Mr Spink at the Nuffield in York and subsequently as an nhs patient in the Spire having PLIF surgery, he explained everything about the surgery in a very clear, caring and professional manner. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Spink to anyone and am truly grateful for him giving a 76 year old her active life back!

I had never had any form of surgery, so as a 57yr old male the thought of having major back surgery was daunting. I met Mr George Spink for a consultation and then to review images, we talked about various options and then I took some time in having a think about the path that I thought was right for me some weeks later we met again and I decided to go ahead with surgery,. From the very start to the finish Mr Spink was professional and considerate, I felt totally at ease on the day of the surgery. I was walking the very next day and my lifestyle has totally changed now 2 months on from the operation.

I had been suffering from severe calf pain for several years following a motoring incident. This condition was made worse by having had the wrong operation (a fasciotomy) which in turn was because of an incorrect diagnosis. The surgeon who undertook this operation did, in fairness to him, admit that he had made things worse. He subsequently referred me for nerve investigation when I was told that there was little wrong with me and that my pain was “in the mind.” I continued to suffer for many months. Fortunately, my insurer agreed to take this case on as a private patient. I was first seen by a lower limb specialist who in turn referred me to an excellent nerve specialist whose diagnosis resulted in my being referred to Mr Spink for back surgery at the Spire Hospital in Hull. Right from my first meeting with Mr Spink, I had the greatest confidence in him. He explained in full detail the seriousness of the operation which I needed including the potential risks, taking great care to make sure that I had the complete picture for me to reach a decision. Because of the significance of the operation, he placed his proposal before a review panel as an additional check. The operation which I needed was a L4/5 lumbar cement augmented fusion for symptomatic spondylolithesis. Not only did he explain what is involved, he also gave me detailed, illustrated literature to augment my understanding. He made sure that I was fully comfortable with my decision to proceed and did not rush me. As soon as I was in recovery, Mr Spink was at my bedside, assuring me that all was well. He again visited me early in the morning the next day. I was in hospital for just two nights and am now well into my recuperation phase after some seven weeks. A few days ago, he was able to sign me off but making clear that I could contact him at any time if necessary. I am now having physiotherapy. We are truly fortunate in having such skilled surgeons as Mr Spink, who was backed up by an excellent team at the Spire (and the Nuffield in York where I am an outpatient). I am pleased to say that the severe and limiting pain in my calf has completely gone and I look forward to being fully mobile in due course.
